Bright Resources
- free Guide to Technology for Technophobes
Bright Resources: free Guide to Technology for Technophobes covers select areas I’m passionate about researching & presenting in an easy-to-understand way. It’s also affectionately known as techfornongeeks.
Technology is often needlessly complicated. For example, take RSS. Do you know what it is? Have you even heard of it? All it does is make it easy to find out about updates to websites without using an email address. So, why is its name an acronym that only geeks would know? Why is it referred to as ’syndication’ and ‘aggregation’? These aren’t terms people need to know to make use of it. Seth Godin (marketing expert) says this means they’re broken - my aim is to fix them for you.
(The ‘Bright Resources’ series is under continuous revision, please do send me questions and links to help add value for you & other visitors).
Technology is supposed to make things easier for people
However, often it’s too complicated to use for anyone who isn’t a geek. The language creates a barrier between those who know and those who don’t; if you don’t know the right words to use, you can’t ask questions, so you can’t easily get answers and learn. No more!
I make technology easier
I straddle the geek/non-geek divide (being a semi-geek myself). I have on-the-job experience fixing IT problems for non-geeks and explaining IT problems & solutions in straightforward, non-technical language. I’m still learning, of course, with a combination of research & listening to feedback - so let me know of difficulties you encounter and I’ll do my very best to help.
Why is Bright Resources free?
Psychotactics has an excellent reason for giving away valuable information, one which I share: “People often ask me why I give so much valuable information free on this website. My answer is simple. I’ve learned from some fantastic people, and I could never give back. This is my way of Giving Forward“.
How does Bright Resources work?
Bright Resources grows continuously because I’m always learning something new and I share all the best tips here. I’ve launched it now so you can start benefiting from it straightaway.
