    Ideology, feminism & optimism

    I’ve been thinking about feminism.

I remember getting back from a feminism meeting, where I met some fascinating women (as I always do). Met one such woman with the most unusual theories - truly original, reminded me of the film, ‘A Beautiful Mind’ actually. Anyway, I went away with some book recommendations and my head buzzing with ideas.

The only negative things are I seem to be surrounded by a lot of pessimism and, of course, some sexism. The former’s not a big problem, because I remain optimistic in the face of most of it. However, it would be nice to have some affirming beliefs around me, instead of more destructive ones. Never mind, that’s what Steve Pavlina & my own mind are for… :)

The latter’s harder to deal with, in that it’s hard to be constructive in the face of those kind of attitudes. But that’s okay, I like a challenge.

I’m still working on a Feminism & Women’s Health post, so look out for it.

I’m also, still, trying to work out in what direction Change Things Now! should develop. Any ideas? E.g. is there any area you feel should be covered by feminism & feminist groups, but currently isn’t or is under-represented?
