Is lust a kind of love?
Either way, love o'erflows.
I don't know how I feel,
But I do know that it's real.
I know my heart is open,
Though my mind is sometimes closed.
I know my heart is beating
With the feelings that I hold.
I don't know what you're thinking,
You don't know who I am.
Are your thoughts unpleasant?
Full of darkness and so pained?
I don't mind, I just don't care -
It's the way we are.
Human beings can be vile,
And I know this best.
I want to drag you down,
I need to get this off my chest.
But do you even like me?
Or just think that I'm banal?
You're a tragic hero,
Without being a star.
You're still utterly human -
I can't explain it; you just are.

The minutes seems like hours
As I try to get back to you.
Days seems like months,
As you battle through.
And the days seem like nights -
So dark and so cold -
Mind is willing, body weak,
We feel so young; we're getting old.
But we're winning our wars,
We'll be re-united still.
The hunger that I've felt,
I always will.

You're my morning sunshine,
You're my evening dew,
When you're not around,
I am needing you.
When you're right beside,
I can't get close enough.
Hugging all the tighter,
This love stuff's kinda tough.
Making future plans,
Expressing how we feel.
Dreams are coming true now,
The fantasy is real.

I've just uploaded three poems I wrote in 2000 (I've cleverly backdated them so they don't interfere with the chronology of All Things Bright).
If you'd like to read them, you can access them via Poetry: 2000 or access all poetry (only these three at the moment, but more to come) via Poetry. These links also appear in the 'Categories' listing in the sidebar.
Enjoy & please do let me know what you think!

Desert sands,
They chafe my skin.
Exfoliating deadness away,
Cleansing…
In a whirlwind of fire,
Stealing my soul,
Scorching my body,
And tearing my heart.
Hot beneath my feet,
Slowly I'm sinking…
Dancing beneath the stars,
I feel the sickly pain.
Always I am thinking of you,
My heart longs to join yours.
My body yearns to follow you,
My soul needs to be with you.
As I leave these sands behind,
Some memories slip away,
But I remember the thoughts I had of you,
Alone with your smiles on the desert sands.

Cold knife presses,
Metal touches flesh.
Gunshots ring in my head.
Screams until eternity – 'I'm free',
Driving me insane.
Blood spurts – do I feel pain?
My own pain.
I want to be without.
Then,
Nothing.
Silence
(Is golden).
Like silver.
Darkness.
Darkness scares me.
A vacuum,
In the void.
In my soul.
A flicker.
Then -
Nothing.

I like to see
The clouds in your eyes.
They show you're thinking.
I always see the clouds in your eyes.
CHORUS:
Thunderclouds
When you're angry,
Like candyfloss
When you smile,
And grey days
When you're sad.
And I say;
"I love the rain,
Love to hear it on the windowpane,
But I prefer sunrise."
You say;
"I like sunset
But I love getting wet,
No rain on the glass for me -
I want to feel it."
I look in your eyes and,
I don't see sunrise,
I see
The promise of rain,
The threat of a new day.
The hope of a new life,
In your eyes.
It's all in your eyes,
And I realise,
I love to see
The clouds in your eyes.
CHORUS
You love all types of rain,
I know you love a storm.
I like the sunshine,
I like to feel my time is mine.
I like to hear birds sing,
I like the things
That nature bestows on us.
And,
I love to see
The clouds in your eyes.
CHORUS
I love to see
The clouds in your eyes.
