Beauty: Existentialism & Ethics (poem)
Is lust a kind of love?
Either way, love o’erflows.
I don’t know how I feel,
But I do know that it’s real.
I know my heart is open,
Though my mind is sometimes closed.
I know my heart is beating
With the feelings that I hold.
I don’t know what you’re thinking,
You don’t know who I am.
Are your thoughts unpleasant?
Full of darkness and so pained?
I don’t mind, I just don’t care -
It’s the way we are.
Human beings can be vile,
And I know this best.
I want to drag you down,
I need to get this off my chest.
But do you even like me?
Or just think that I’m banal?
You’re a tragic hero,
Without being a star.
You’re still utterly human -
I can’t explain it; you just are.
